Lexiboost: “Torpor” Just keep swimming

By Eileen Ramos

MP910221050Torpor (n.): 1. A state of mental or physical inactivity or insensibility. 2. Lethargy; apathy 3. The dormant, inactive state of a hibernating or estivating animal.

Don’t let yourself fall into a torpor.  It might be easy and quite alluring to stop job hunting and mindlessly watch television, but you are better than that! Once you let yourself slip down that seductive road, it will be increasingly harder to get back on top of things. So make yourself a schedule: spend your morning hours (9-12pm) applying for jobs, then spend a few hours in the afternoon (12-2pm) watching a movie, TV show, or reading a book just for fun. It’s important to let yourself relax as well as work hard to find a job. Don’t let apathy drag you down. Conquer it!
