2016 is the Year of “Happy” at Lexicon. We’ve taken on the challenge of helping you find more of your own, bringing you holistic tips and techniques to help you find not only professional success but personal fulfillment. At the beginning of this month we launched a challenge to get that going.
Day twenty-three of the 30 Day Life Challenge…
The quote that got this all started is “People don’t go out and live, but they expect life results.” We want you to start getting the results you want; on the way celebrate the small victories.
Thursday is often associated with happy hour. Restaurants and bars have capitalized on Thursday as the day before the weekend begins–the day when the longing for the weekend is at its most intense because you are almost but not quite there. We suggest in this season of sun that we re-assign the notion of happy hour.
Today we challenge you to celebrate every small victory with a mini–happy hour.
Too often we reserve our celebration energy for big occasions: major life milestones, birthdays, weddings, graduations, retirements. But what about those little moments every day when we accomplish the virtually impossible or conquer the tiringly frustrating or simple get through the morning meeting. We suggest we celebrate all of these moments.
Create a Celebration Ritual
I’ve always thought it corny but my partner likes to hi-five himself. But today as I write this prompt, I realize that is his personal celebration ritual. It’s a way for him to recognize his own accomplishment and honor the moment. While I still think it weird to watch a grown man hi-five himself, I think he has the right idea. So I put it to you to create your own celebration ritual. (Maybe not a selfie hi-five.) Create a way to honor yourself and your little moments of victory. Whether that’s a special cup of coffee, special candy or a star sticker, give yourself a moment to recognize yourself and your achievements.
You Deserve It
Each and every one of us deserves to be recognized for our contributions. No, everyone else may not always recognize you, but you can always recognize yourself. Give yourself a happy hour to say YES! I DID IT! because you deserve it.
